A strange challenge for a Bank Holiday but one that Nadine was determined to smash. Her longest swim in skins to date. This very chilled newly wed started her swim with no rigid feed plan and the attitude of lets just see how I go. Nadine started her swim at Fell Foot with the temperature at 16.5 degrees but it soon increased to 18 as the swim got underway.
The Lake was kind and there was a gentle breeze behind Nadine that would certainly aid her journey to Ambleside. The Lake was surprisingly quiet for a Bank Holiday and apart from 1 jet that passed above this swim was drama free. Nadine just kept her head down and was making steady progress. As we often find after Bass Rock the Wind tends to blow across the Lake and was now getting Nadine a little frustrated in her rhythm. With the added inconvenience Nadine did slow her pace towards the last few miles.
For Nadine her last mile seemed forever but 7 hours and 20 minutes later and this newly wed had swam her longest skins swim to date Windermere Solo. With her sights on the English Channel more sea swims and wave action definatley is on the agenda. We look forward to seeing her next adventures.
