Uswim Adventure is all about trying new places and challenging some of your swimmers along the way, even yourself. In good Uswim Adventure style this summer so far we have taken our clients to challenge themselves along the beautiful bays of Jersey and the Jurassic Coastline of Bournemouth. This is just the beginning.
Jersey camp was organised by the fantastic Sal Minty Gravett MBE and had a more swim holiday feel, catering for a group of all abilities it offered small funky swims like around Green Island and also qualifiers towards the end as required. This year myself, Ashley Seymour, Neal Kirton, Sue Haines and Alex Hajok enjoyed the stunning scenary whilst building up to our own individual swim time targets in the week. Surrounded by a stunning coastline and like minded people, whats not to love. Everyone beat their targets and some exceeded them. With a Wim Hof workshop thrown into the mix it was quite a week.
It was back for a couple of weeks, then off to Bournemouth with our friends to step things up a bit. This time 2 swimmers accompanied me, Dan Adcock Kirsh ( training for EC solo 22), Katy Morris (2 way Ullswater 22 and EC 2023). I wasn't there for a jolly though , currently training for Round Jersey Solo 22 it was all about the swimming. This 5 days was swim focused, you set your targets and they support you to achieve. The swimming is located in the same place same time daily, but this was not at all boring, and by Day 4, it was home. Wondering what snack you would be offered, and by who, with such a variety of helpers things were always mixed up. Swimmers supporting swimmers as Ali always says,
The group of volunteers run a slick operation , feeding you hourly in the sea and oozing nothing but positivity and encouragement. There were also a couple of opportunities to attend talks on marathon swims, Q's and A's etc which were awesome for all.
So down to achievements that week. So we saw Katy Morris smash our her first ever 6 hour swim with water temperature 15.8 degrees. Myself hit my target of an 8 hours swim and Dan hit his target of 10 hours. With his EC solo pending this was perfectly timed to allow for taper, rest and a massive boost of confidence.
