Perfect Channel Relay Practice

On a wet day this couple took on a 1 way Windermere as training for their English Channel Relay Swim in a Team of 4 in a few weeks. The focus was to follow Channel Rules for changeover and to learn about self management on the boat. A very important part of Relay Swims and one which many forget. The pair are also raising money for the Bliss Charity following their daughter now 2 years old being born premature.

This duo quickly learnt that they had packed too much kit, forgotten some kit they could have done with and recognised the need to be organised and have a tidy boat. They gained valuable experience throughout their swim and it will certainly make their Channel Relay Preparation and easier one.

Towards the end of the Swim the wind picked up and a strong cross wind added to what had been a nice calm Lake. Great practice for the sea as being slapped in the face by the water made a rhythm difficult.

7 Hours and 15 Minutes and they had completed their 1 Way Windermere. Good Luck with your Channel Relay.
