This is a subtitle for your new post

A familiar shot of Gareth Rees about to start a swim, confident and ready. Windermere had already been conquered several years ago at the start of Gareths swimming portfolio which aimed towards his English Channel Solo. He successfully completed his Dream in tough tough conditions earning himself a Channel Swimming Association Award for his efforts.

The swim started at Fell Foot . There was little breeze and a very grey sky, the air temperature was cool and the boat thermometer was registering at 15 degrees. As we proceeded down the Lake and within a couple of hours the Lake began to warm up but was not any warmer than 16 degrees. So as Gareth put it, "a little fresh". Gareth fed after his first 90 minutes taking this time to settle down into his stroke, and then hourly.

We were aware that Gareth wanted a sub 6 hour swim and he had made the halfway point just near the 3 hour mark so he had to increase the work a little bit to achieve this. We gave him the news when we were opposite Low Wood Bay which is around 1 mile once abeam to it. The last feed was given and Boom he was off to the Jetty.
5 hours and 51 minutes Gareth had another Windermere Solo under his belt.
