Coniston Conquered - raising over £15000 for charity.

Tuesday we met Nicola on the banks of Coniston. Following a training plan , Nicola found herself struggling with a temperature and recently had to go back into a wetsuit.

However, stood at the start Nicola said " I want to do it skins , what do you think:". Lets do it, was the simple answer, with a temperature of 17.5 degrees the main problem of getting cold was less of an issue. So her biggest swim to date started.

The start was a little breezy, but soon flattened out and became an absolutely stunning day, flat, calm and warm. Perfect for her swim.

As we passed Wild Cat Island, Nicola started to ask the dreaded question " how long" and " are we nearly there yet? ". Obviously we knew she was beginning to hurt now but the finish was never in doubt.

We could soon see the end, the field and house that seem to be there forever, with Nicola looking up a lot more just wanting to touch the jetty.

4 Hours and 10 minutes later , met by husband at the jetty Nicola had conquered Coniston. One super happy lady and very proud coach.

Nicola had sprayed her late Mum's perfume on her who always has her back. What a super special swim. Raising £15000 + for the Hospice that supported her family. WELL DONE!
