Uswim Adventures last Windermere 'skins' swim of the Season

October 6th, 2019. Three hardy swim bods who make up 'Jersey Chaps Relay Team' - Graham Hadfield, Enrique Flores and Dave Randall - completed a chilly 2-Way Windermere training swim in temperatures ranging from 12.5-13 degrees Centigrade. Cool.

Each swimmer completed a 40 minutes swim and then three one hour swims - four swims each in total - as they completed their challenge in a fab time of 10 hours and 58 minutes. As Enrique described it "the first swim was a bit of fun, number two and three swims were increasingly tough and the final fourth swim one of the toughest swims he has ever done". This coming from a man who has already swum the English Channel!

One of the big challenges of a relay of this kind - especially in a small team of three - is that swimmers cool down increasingly from the start to to the finish of the challenge irregardless of whether they are in or out of the water. Wearing many layers of clothing, drinking hot fluids and staying sheltered when on the boat hardly helps which means getting in the water each time gets tougher and tougher, mentally and physically. There is also hardly any time to recover before your next swim so mental toughness and positivity is a must!

So, all in all, big respect to our three musketeers who now have big plans to go and set a new 'Round Jersey Relay' record in 2019. With their 'can-do' attitude, proven OW pedigree and total focus who can stop them!
