Wow! Another fabulous outing for Gemini Warrior successfully guiding 5 Swimmers along their Lake Challenge of choice.
We saw Ruth Hinds a few weeks ago complete the first of her 2 Lake Challenges booked with ourselves by completing Ullswater in 5 hours and 04 minutes. She then swiftly moved onto her Solo Windermere and cracked out another great performance by completing this in 6 hours and 50 minutes. Ruth had not only taken on these challenges to mark a rather special birthday of hers but also to raise money for "Georgias Fund".
Dominic Bunce and Mark Payne were 2 very strong swimmers. They both enjoyed the refreshing Lake Windermere on the same day. Dominic setting off from Ambleside in his wetsuit in the morning and Mark Payne leaving Fell Foot Park in skins in the afternoon.
The weather was stunning and the conditions were perfect, although they both got a bit of rock and roll from the passing steamers and jet skiers.
An original Uswim Dover Soul (swam the English Channel Relay Team in 2015 with yours truly) Sue haines took on her biggest swim to date as part of her preparation for an English Channel Solo next July. With husband Mr Haines on the boat as feed support Sue started her swim at Ambleside Pier on Friday morning. Experiencing a little bit of chop around Storrs Hall from a slight increase in wind, Sue continued at a strong pace. 5 hours and 38 minutes and she was home. A brilliant swim to build confidence in the preparation ahead.
To end the busy week, Daren Taylor conquered his fear and smashed Ullswater. Daren had anxieties about swimming in open water but what better way to put it to bed then walk out of the mighty Ullswater having won the battle hands down. A truly inspirational swim.
