We met Claire and her family on the jetty at Fell Foot and had to wait for the fog to clear before we could set off on the swim. Claire was super nervous , but had done everything she needed to do be ready for this swim. Strength work was a big part of it as well as gradually increasing her time in the water as she neared her Windermere Solo.

At 1015 , Claire started her Solo and it was clear to see that she had underestimated her swim speed as she flew down at a 3.5km/hour pace. This settled after the first feed, once she had been reassured that she was doing fine.

We had the goal of meeting Claire's support crew at Storrs and sure enough it all worked out. Feed was timed for the same time to make most of the stop , she was super happy to see them.

Claire obviously had doubts in herself, and would often stop to check if we were going to get there. We had absolutely no doubts at all, and as we neared the final stretch we gave Claire painkillers for a twingy shoulder , a heap of positivity and cracked on.

We stayed in contact with husband, who hired a boat and came out to give her another big boost as she swam down the last 2 km. Even with the jetty in sight Claire would still be unsure we would finish.

In a super 5 hours and 28 minutes Claire had smashed her Windermere Solo. Slightly stunned and in shock at the achievement but no doubt it will sync in soon.
