Pushing through the Pain Barrier

Tom Garrett was all set for a 2 Way Solo Windermere. Crew Dave and Andy met Tom at Ambleside and were quickly impressed at this speedster. Tom was powering down the Lake looking focused and determined reaching the half way marker in a superb 2 hours 20 minutes.

It was not all to be so easy though, as Tom soon started to be aggravated by a shoulder injury and by changing his stroke to protect this had started with some other issues. Changing his tactic at times to backstroke in an attempt to alleviate the discomfort did not help and the decision was made to go for the 1 way today.

It was the right decision with Tom's long term plan is an English Channel Solo further pain could cause long term damage. A frustrated Tom completed his 1 Way in 5 hours 30 minutes.
